Mies Renovation Wins US Building of the Year 2021 The transformation of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library in Washington, DC, has received the most votes in our poll for US Building of the Year, which focused on adaptive reuse and renovation projects in 2021. Designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, the 1972 library was renovated by Mecanoo and OTJ Architects. Furbish provided all green roofing materials and assisted with the installation of our EcoCline Green Roofing system for the MLK renovation with our partners HRGM Corp.
