Growing up on the eastern shore of Maryland, I was surrounded by nature. I explored my surroundings, from the expansive forest in my backyard to the bright shores of Assateague Island. Plants and the outdoors shaped my childhood. Later, while enrolled in college, I started working at the Research Greenhouse to cushion my growing tuition costs. I tried my hand at many different subjects offered at the University of Maryland, from nutritional science to economics. I even left the school for a semester to enroll at the Culinary Institute of America, but again returned to UMD when I solidified my passion for the interactions between humans and the natural environment. Ultimately, I focused my studies on plant sciences and began to look towards my future career.
I was first introduced to Furbish while in college and was impressed with their sustainable efforts towards elegant natural design in the built environment. I am now proudly a part of that company! The BioWall team is small, but impressive and can count numerous successes in the design, delivery, and craft of beautiful living walls.
When I have time, I am a garden-to-table, short order cook at my family home on the lower Eastern-Shore of Maryland. You might also find me singing on my commute home, playing Sunday league soccer, or hunting for deals at a thrift store.
I aspire to impact people, even in minor ways, through efficient design and plant integration.
