When I began studying Horticulture my freshman year of high school, I was instantly drawn to the idea of using plants in unconventional ways to solve common problems. I started with Furbish as an intern in the spring of 2017. I was already familiar with the concepts of hydroponic farming and green roofs, but plants on walls was a level of nonconformity that was new and exciting for me. After completing my Plant Science degree at University of Delaware, I started full time with the BioWall department. I love the challenging and dynamic work environment; I am constantly doing something new and testing and expanding my knowledge of plants and how to grow them. When I’m not at Furbish, I spend my time running a small horse boarding farm, mostly of retired thoroughbreds, hiking and exploring cool geologic features, or at the gym.
Favorite hiking spot: Chimney Rock at Catoctin Mountain
Plants I find most interesting: Ferns and lycophytes
Favorite kitchen appliance: Crockpot, duh.
